Intervention Study on the Efficacy and Safety of Platycodon grandiflorus Ethanol Extract in Overweight or Moderately Obese Adults: A Single-Center, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial
Therefore, we conducted a preliminary study on the anti-obesity effect of PG extract (PGE) in overweight and obese adult humans. This is the first study to investigate the body fat loss effects of PGE in humans. In particular, this preliminary study provides information on the approximate daily dosage of PGE for the upcoming main study, which will be performed using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) equipment for body fat measurement.

The Prevalence of Sarcopenia Using Different Formulas in Patients with Prediabetes
Prediabetes is one of the causes of sarcopenia. In addition to the absence of a definite formula to make the diagnosis of sarcopenia, there are also limitations in assessing the muscle mass in obese subjects. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the prevalence of sarcopenia using different formulas in patients with prediabetes.

Evaluation of muscle mass in obesity, prediabetes and diabetes mellitus by different equations used for the measurement of muscle mass
Insulin resistance is one of risk factors for sarcopenia and there is no specific equation for the measurement of muscle mass. The present study aimed to evaluate muscle mass in the patients with obesity, prediabetes (PDM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) by different equations for the measurement of muscle mass.

Dysregulated Iron Metabolism-Associated Dietary Pattern Predicts an Altered Body Composition and Metabolic Syndrome
Currently, the role of diet in the development of DIM remains unclear. A reduced-rank regression (RRR) analysis, a data-driven (exploratory) method to characterize major patterns of food intake, is regarded as an approach to dissect the link between diet and chronic diseases. The broad aim of this study was to investigate dietary patterns that are associated with DIM and their predictive effects on the body composition and MetS in 208 Taiwanese adults.

Sleeve Gastrectomy and Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass Lead to Comparable Changes in Body Composition in a Multiethnic Asian Population
Changes in body composition after bariatric surgery such as a sustained loss of body fat are often associated with an inevitable loss of fat free mass. This can contribute to an undesirable disturbance in resting metabolic rate and weight maintenance. Our aim was to study changes in body composition in a multiethnic Asian cohort following bariatric surgery and to identify differences between laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
