Serum Iron:Ferritin Ratio Predicts Healthy Body Composition and Reduced Risk of Severe Fatty Liver in Young Adult Women

This study investigated the association between serum iron biomarkers and fatty liver severity in 117 adult women (control: n = 19 and NAFLD: n = 98). The specific aims were as follows: (1) to assess the age-specific association between serum iron biomarkers and body composition; and (2) to identify the iron-specific dietary pattern associated with fatty liver severity.

The ratio of epicardial to body fat improves the prediction of coronary artery disease beyond calcium and Framingham risk scores

The association between epicardial fat and coronary artery disease (CAD) might be affected by general adiposity. We aimed to determine whether the percentage of epicardial adipose tissue (%EAT), defined as the mass ratio of epicardial fat to body fat, could improve prediction of asymptomatic CAD.

Comparing the Accuracy of Waist-Hip Ratio Calculation by the BIA device versus the Manual Method

Nowadays, the Waist-Hip Ratio is considered one of the most important indices in predicting the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The usual method for calculating this index is by measuring the waist and hip circumferences with a measuring tape. However, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) devices are also capable of calculating this ratio. Hence, the goal of this study was to calculate this ratio with the BIA device and to compare it with the manual method done with measuring tape.
